2021 IN-PERSON SUMMER ENGINEERING DESIGN & PRESENTATION CAMP
We will be hosting our first ever Engineering Design & Presentation camp this summer. This two-day camp will be hosted in person at Seven Lakes High School and is open to all middle school students. This course is specially designed to prepare middle school students to the engineering design process, Computer Aided Design (CAD), and prepare students for Engineering Design & Presentation (Engineering II) at Seven Lakes- a Freshman or Sophomore year course that many high schoolers take. Due to COVID-19 precautions, we will need to do COVID screenings as well as limit seats for this camp.
NOTE: We need students to sign up for a FREE Autodesk Student License (Fusion 360) before the actual camp sessions starts, but we will be provide instructions for this when the time comes.
We will have access to school computers, but we recommend students to bring their own laptops if they have them so working from home will be easier. From building robots every year, we've learned extremely important lessons about engineering and the process that goes behind creating things. The most efficient way to make something and translate it into an actual object is through prototyping and this camp focuses in on the art of using computer software to create objects that help us on our day to day lives. We will be teaching many of the lessons that we've learned in our experience with robotics along with information about what engineers do in the real world and the different types of engineers that exist.
CAD skills are some of the most valuable skills that employers often look for and starting from an early age gives students an edge in their path to learning how to become a better innovator and thinker. We will be inspiring students to channel their inner creativity and help them in their process to make virtually anything they want online!
In fact, we will be providing students with the opportunity of 3D printing one of their very own inventions of their choice that can be personalized and will be a token of success of this camp. There will only be ONE session for this camp. Along with the usual instruction time listed, we will also be hosting office hours or hours dedicated to tutoring or providing additional support to students who have additional questions. This camp is hosted by simply the most experienced and best engineering students at Seven Lakes by RoboSpartans members. We are experienced in design and hope to inspire your child to join our team in the future!
