We are a multicultural team of students engaged in bringing a passion for math, science, engineering and computing to our community and school by participating in yearly first® and vex robotics competitions, where we work collaboratively to design, build, and program robots. Through these competitive challenges, our students not only develop valuable technical skills, but also the ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and problem-solve as a team. Shaw Center for STEAM has been our build site since February of 2015 and houses all teams from Katy ISD, including 624, 2882, 4639, 5427, and 8576. It was designed to provide students across all grade levels a space to bring ideas from conception to design and production. Projects at the Shaw Center are developed around interdisciplinary learning with an emphasis on inspiring students to be innovators in the areas of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.
